Where Are Today
Road Runner BLM
Quartzsite Az.
As stated in an early post, here is a break down of the miles traveled and fuel used to get to Yuma Az. The last 75 miles to Quartzsite was not calculated into this as I have not filled the fuel tank since we got here.
The total distance traveled was 2716.6 mi./4371.94 km., total fuel consumed was 291.312 U.S. gal./ 1102.73 litres/242.56 CND gal. at a total cost of U.S. $1725.24/CND $2484.34 (using $0 .44 average exchange rate).
Let's see if I can break this down according to U.S. gallon versus CND gallon. To do this I am going to convert both to litres.
1 Canadian gallon (UK) is equal to 4.5 L
1 U.S. gallon is equal to 3.7 L
This makes the U.S. gal. smaller than a CND gal. by .7 of a litre.
The average cost per U.S. gallon per U.S. dollar was $5.92 / gal. which would be CND. $8.52
The average cost per CND gallon per CND dollar was $10.24 or per litre was CND $2.25
I have a bit of a dilemma with my calculations, that being, as I write this , I checked the price of diesel fuel at the Ultramar station back home in Durham, where I usually buy my fuel and it is CND $2.60 a litre, which it was when we left home.
Even though I am close, my head is spinning right now, so if you see where I messed up, feel free to point it out.
It is certainly going to be an more expensive winter, fuel cost wise. I did take a longer route down than I normally would have and our route home is to be determined yet. Along with rising health care insurance cost, dollar exchange, this is what has brought us to being our last winter here.
Thanks for stopping by, hopefully the above is as clear as mud and don't forget to check out Pat's post for today. HERE

This is what I am looking at out our back window as I write. We have had over 18 hours of rain in some form or another. We are looking at many sunny days in the forecast from here on out. |
