About Us

We are the Richards, Pat, Bill and Clemson. We are both still working, both at the Thames Valley District School Board, in the warehouse. Pat in the office and myself as the shipper/receiver, Clemson of course is the family dog and he is retired all the time.

We are working towards retirement in the summer of 2016, at which we will sell everything and take up full time RVing. We have lots to learn about the life style and things to figure out but we have time.

We have both had previous lives as we like to call it, but have been together for 18 years now. Between us we have 6 children and 9 grandchildren, with the potential for more, grandchildren that is.

We are on our fourth 5th wheel trailer and think we have found the one that will do us in this retirement life style.

So follow along if you wish and join us in this adventure.

  1. Hi Bill, I hope all is well, we have been following you on your journey with the new 5th wheeler since we met you at the RV show in London. We are looking at doing the same thing in about 5 years and I have been gathering resources since.

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, I do however have a question, if we are traveling to the US for extended periods of time, do we have to pay taxes during that stay? I'm referring to state taxes, not your typical every purchasing taxes of course.

    Please advise. Thank you.

    1. Holy Moly! I don't know if Bill has answered this question from 2 years ago but I'm sure you have your answer by now if you are travelling. No, no taxes other than regular purchases, of course. I apologize if we dropped the ball on this comment. Hope all is well!

  2. Hi Cynthia and Larry! How great to hear from you! We have certainly enjoyed following this dream so far and it has definitely become a reality. We didn't get to Rock Glen this past year at all and we hear from Melinda and Gerry Hicks that you have pulled out. We hope to get there this year at some point since we have become good friends with those two. It would be nice to see you again. We don't have your email information so I hope you get this. Pat is writing this, a faster typer. :) Take care!

  4. Hello Pat and Bill, so nice to meet you at the lake at Bottomless Lakes State Park near Roswell. What an interesting blog you guys have!
Bill's been working on our Casita, getting her ready for a short trip up to Cloudcroft or possibly Oliver Lee State Park at Alamogordo, just to check her out. The storage space inside in minimal, but we also have the Nissan with camper cover to put large tubs in with essentials;food and bedding. The vintage Casita is an upgrade from our vintage pop-up that we took up to Idaho then west to Washington, down west coast thru CA then Nevada then home to Seguin, Texas a 7 or 8 yrs ago. The pop up served us well, but now we live in bear country, and I felt the need for solid walls.
Bill and I have had previous lives, too, and will celebrate 20 yr anniversay next month. Both retired since 2005, lived in Rockport, TX, Seguin, TX and now Roswell for 6 yrs. We love the economical living and camping in New Mexico. Safe Travels, Sandra and Bill

    1. Hello Sandy and Bill. We are so happy that you took the time to write to us, most people say they will and don't so contact is lost. Thank you for saying our blogs are interesting. Bill's are for sure, mine are just a lot of everyday stuff. :)
Your Casita will be so nice once Bill and you add your personal touches. We hope your trip to Alamogordo is a success!
We are slowly making our way home, as you know, in Grove, Ok for a 2 week rest period enjoying the nice weather. In no hurry to get home to Ontario BUT we have to be home before Apr. 20 so plan on Apr. 7th. We'll visit our 6 kids (Brady Bunch family) while in our old home town before taking our Mobile Suite up to my sister's property near Durham, Ontario for the summer months.
Bill and I are coming up on 21 years married in May so 3rd time is a charm for us. :)
We love our experiences in Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma and hope to have many more. Since this is our fulltime home, we hope to be able to make this trip to the southwest for many more years. Maybe we will cross paths again, you never know!
Again, thank you so much for writing! We have no way to get in touch with you so maybe if you don't mind sending us an email we can advise when we're in the area again.
Have fun on your travels in the Casita and keep on enjoying the life!
      Pat & Bill
