So here we
are, just past the middle of February, and in six weeks we will be starting our
way home, it is hard to believe that our winter here in Arizona is soon coming
to an end.
I continue to
enjoy my hobby, flying RC airplanes most mornings and the Thursday, night
flying.
Along with
the days we help here in the park. Recently, I thought I would try skinning one
of the palm trees after the dead palms had been cut off. Watching a couple of
You Tube videos, gave me the basics of what to do, so an attempt was made. I
have done two, and the managers are very pleased with the outcome. There are a
few more that are old enough that I want to do.

The second
weekend in February, the Quartzsite Desert RC Flyers has a Friday night, Night
Fly, and a Fun Fly on the Saturday. The Friday night saw the largest crowd of
spectators that I have ever seen in the past five years that I have been
attending the event. Area clubs are invited to attend the Saturday Fun Fly,
brings some amazing aircraft and pilots along with our own members. This event
is advertised on the locale radio and by flyers we put up. The parking lot and
roadside were packed with cars bringing close to 200 spectators. With a locale
food truck there to provide delicious food and a fifty/fifty draw netting the
winner $469.00 and the best weather and wind conditions you could ask for, it
was a perfect day.

The club has
received many compliments and flyers have asked if we would consider making it
a two-day event, something we will have to consider.
Thanks for
stopping by, hope you have enjoyed the read. Until the next time, take care.
Great job and nice so many attended.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it is always great to see the turnout that we get.
DeleteWhat a great event. The planes are spectacular. Good job on skinning the palm trees. They look so much better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Elva, always great to see what airplanes we get . The palm trees do look so much better.
DeleteCongratulations! Your years of devotion to your hobby really shined at this year's show. Glad you had a perfect day. Great job, Bill!
ReplyDeleteThe palm trees look like they feel so much better. They sure look better.
Another great job!
Thank you. I do enjoy my hobby, that's what makes it so easy to put the effort into the show. I must say, that I sure do like the way the palm trees turned out.
DeleteI agree ... two days. That event is so much fun to watch. It's amazing how you can keep those planes in the air! Palm trees look fabulous. About time someone took care of them. Kudos to you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, we will consider having a two day event. I am pleased with the way the palm trees look. I have a few more that I want to try and get done.
DeleteGreat job on the Quartzsite Desert RC Flyers activities. That will certainly attract more Flyers and Members.
ReplyDeleteA professional job on trimming the Palm Trees.
It is always hard thinking of the return trip home, but it is also good looking forward to being home where Family and Friends are waiting to see you.
Stay Safe and Enjoy the adventures.
It's about time.
Thank you Rick and Kathy, we usually get a couple of people interested in taking up the hobby each year at the show. I am pleased with the way the palm trees turned out and hoping to do a few more before we are done. Leaving for home is always a sad, but, as Arizona fade in the rear view mirror, happy thought of home and the summer ahead occupy our thoughts.
DeleteTom and I really enjoyed the Night Fly on Friday. Nice job on the palm trees. The time here has flown by way to fast. The years are picking up speed.
ReplyDeleteThank you, happy that you enjoyed the night fly. Yes the time has gone by quickly and the years are definitely picking up speed.
