Where Are We Today
In
my last post, I talked about our " Blue Boy" ( which from now on I'll
call our honey wagon, because ours is really grey, not blue) and how I was
making it easier to dump without spillage.
|
RV Waste Pump |
I
also ordered a macerator or RV Waste Pump from Camping World, which arrived
promptly by UPS. After following the instructions for wiring, I went to attach
it to the trailer dump connection ( this a four pin twist on devise) all four clips
on the RV Waste Pump snapped off.
|
Getting it wired |
The
air got blue for a few seconds and that was the end of that. The next morning I
sent an email along with pictures to Customer Service at Camping World stating
what I had done and asking for advice as to getting it replaced. Within a couple
of hours, I received an email from them apologizing for any inconvenience, and
stating they were sending another email with a prepaid UPS shipping label. When
it is picked up by UPS and the tracking number shows it is transit, they will
send out a replacement within 2-3 business days. My return was picked up Friday
morning on the 19th of January, so I am hoping that on Monday, I will have
notice that the new one is on its way.

All four clips snapped off |
On
Saturday we attended the Quartzsite RV show, a must when you are here, the thousands of people who make up the
jostling, elbow knocking, people standing in your way crowd and organized chaos
that goes along with any event like this, man you got to be in your glory.
|
Old generator |
Last
year when we went to the show, yes we came back for a second time, we found
items that we would like to have for our RV, one being a new generator. The one
we have is a Champion 3500 watt construction generator, you know, the noisy
one. After looking at several over the past year, that would fit the criteria that
we set for our needs, we planned and saved to purchase a new one this year. The
Champion 3400 inverter generator is what we bought.
|
New generator/inverter |
The
gentlemen at the Champion booth, said they would get it ready for us by taking
it out of the box, putting in the oil and a little gas to make sure it ran.
When we were ready to pick it up, we just had to drive the truck along the
outside of the fence and they would lift it over to us and right into the back
of the truck.
|
Bringing it over to the fence |
|
In the back of the truck ready for home |
While
that was being done, we walked back into the big tent to browse some more. We
bought one more item for the trailer, that being a new outside light. Our
friends Pat and Rob, showed us theirs last year and we thought it was a good
idea. The light acts as a outside light or motion sensor light. When you first
turn it on it acts as the motion sensor light, turn the switch off and back on
it acts as an outside light.
|
New light |
Today
I installed that light on the trailer. It works well and gives off a good
bright light.
|
Removing the old |
|
Applying sealant around the new one |
|
All done |
There
you have it, and as Ken and Shirley said, I was to get on the ball and do a
post to satisfy their curiosity.
When
the new macerator comes in and I have it up and running, I will let you all
know.
We had a bit of excitement for the second time in the last two weeks, as police, sheriff, fire rescue and ambulance raced to the back of LaPosa South LTVA, don't know what happened, but they left without flashing lights.

Quartzsite police on their way out |

Ambulance on its way out, no flashing lights |

Fire rescue on its way out |
Thanks
for following along, welcome and read all comments, until the next time take
care and be safe.

New light works great, Good Night |
Just wondering about the noise level and the reason for the new type generator?? I'll look on Amazon to get a approx. price. I'm needing a new emergency generator for the house. Will the new one you bought run the computers and such without any problems?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
Don in Okla.
Hi Don: The noise level according to the write up, is 58 decibels. Definitely quieter then our old one. The reasons for the new one are, noise and this one has an inverter which is better for operating the electronics/ computers.
DeleteThank you for the info. Looks like a nice unit. I've been looking at a Honda inverter type but they are asking around $4000 for it!! Ouch!
DeleteDon in Okla.
You 're welcome. The Honda generators are nice but to rich for my blood. Everyone else knows that if they want part of the market, they have to come up with something close to the Honda's, so they try to get as close as they can with reliability and decibel rating. They all seem to use Honda as the mark to make it and yet keep the price lower.
DeleteI like the light. I had something similar but battery operated. I liked it but eventually it just wore out. I found the motion sensor to be a bit tricky in the wind as things such as bushes would set it off. However mine was lower than yours. An awning might cause it to stay on too.
ReplyDeleteI like the generator too. I need to get myself a new one. A bit bigger than the one I have.
Looking forward to more information on the honey wagon pump. Good luck!
Thanks Deb, the light replaces the one above the door which operates by a switch and off the trailer 12 volt power. This light also has a sensitivity dial for adjusting against wind created movement. Time will tell if we need to adjust.
DeleteThe generator i am pleased with and the show price is better than Camping Worlds best price.
You did have a nice productive day, getting things done and a even a quiet generator is nice too. Enjoy your new light.
ReplyDeleteVery happy with getting things done and at a leisurely pace, love the quieter generator and our new light.
DeleteThank you Bill, you've satisfied our curiosity! Congrats on the generator it looks awesome! We have the Honda 2000 which is nice, but won't run our a/c. We almost bought a new one last year in Quartzite, but still haven't. Hoping the new macerator goes together better than the last one..be curious to know once it gets there. That's a really cool light! Looks good! Great post Bill!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Love our generator, it is suppose to run an 15000 watt A/C, but haven't tried it yet. Some reviews said it would, some said it wouldn't. Time will tell for us, we are not big A/C people, so will not be disappointed if it won't. Will let you know how the macerater works out, once I get the new one.
DeleteI have the same light on my rig. Love it!! Wow ... I'm surprised Camping World was so helpful. Hope the second unit is a good one. There's nothing worse than messing with THAT stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. Camping World was great, I have never had a problem with them when returning something. I have read bad reviews from others, maybe we are just lucky so far.
DeleteWe have the identical Macerator and also found it extremely tight to put on the first couple of times but it didn't break off the tabs.
ReplyDeleteNice having a quiet generator.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Hopefully the new one won't break any tabs, and yes the quiet generator is nice.
DeleteCongratulation to the new generator. 58 decibels are for sure fantastic. With such a bright light over your door you now will find your way home no problem :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlene, we sure do like the quietness of it and yes the light is bright, we should find our way home without difficulty.
DeleteLots of new goodies. I'll check out that motion light for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat make and model of blueboy do you have? Same with the water bladder. They seem like a good idea.
Dave, our blue boy is a Thetford and is actually grey in color. I would not recommend this particular one as it does not have a built in dump valve. If I had realized this when I bought it, I wouldn't have got it. If you get one, look for one that has the dump valve built into it. You will find different sizes as to what you need/want and they will actually be blue in color. The water bladder is made by New World in Cloverdale, California. I purchased mine from Camping World for around $100. It holds around 45 gallons of water and come with all the fittings to attach your hoses to it. Ours is in Constance use back home as we do not have water on site where we stay. Approximately every four to five days, I go for water. This one doesn't owe us a dime and would purchase another if this one ever gives up. Very pleased with it. I will say that thru my own fault, I put a little pin hole in it, it comes with a patch kit, so I fixed it and have had no problems since, and that was over two years ago.
