Canyonlands National Park

Where Are We Today

Canyonlands National Park
Today we went thru Canyonlands National Park and once again were blown away by the natural beauty of the area. There are many different Overlook areas throughout the park along with trail heads if you are into hiking.
We stopped at many of the look-outs to take in the spectacular views. The Shafer Trail Overlook was a short walk to see into the canyon and the Dome Rock was about a 1/2 mile hike to see it.
At the whale rock, we only walked part way to it, as it was a steeper climb then we wanted. We also took in the Green River Overlook and the Grand View Point Overlook.
This park was different than the Arches Park but beautiful in its own way. By the way, the roads thru  both of these parks and the surrounding area of Moab, I would rate as a 10 out of 10, and in the parks I would add...FUN, FUN, FUN to drive.
As with yesterday, there is picture overload, so once again, if you skip thru them, I'll understand.
We will be on the move tomorrow, leaving this beautiful area, but hope to come back again, it has become a high on our list as one of the favorites.
Hope you had a great day whatever you were doing, until the next time, take care and be safe. Feel free to leave a comment.

  2. Pics are incredible! Again, love the rock formations. Second pic in is stunning. Also the Vista view with photographer's shadow in front left corner...adding a personal touch to the photo. Utah is definitely a state for further exploration! MB

  4. It is amazing that water and wind carved all these wonderful monoliths. And I wonder what the original residents thought of the place. I'm sure they were astounded also.
    Thanks for the great photos.
